Town Manager's Message:

In April we hold the Annual Town Meeting on Saturday, April 23 at 10 AM in the Veterans Auditorium at Coventry High School. The Town Council's proposed budget will be available at least 10 days in advance of the meeting on the Town's website. A limited number of copies will also be available at the Town Hall. The Town Meeting budget will be forwarded to a vote by paper ballot on Tuesday, May 3rd at the firehouses between 6 AM - 8 PM. District 1 votes at 1755 Main Street. District 2 votes at 3427 Main Street. 

Watch for the spring newsletter, arriving in homes the third week in April, with more budget information and a lot of other Town news and community happenings. Take a few minutes to read it and learn about a very busy summer with construction projects, events, and more.

Transfer Station spring hours

TRANSFER STATION HOURS CHANGE:

April showers bring May flowers, and with the month of April we begin our spring/summer hours at the Transfer Station. Starting 4/7, Thursday hours will be from noon - 6 pm. Take advantage of this change made possible by longer daylight hours to do your recycling during the week. Bottle and Can Drive

COMING EVENTS: 


Fri 4/1: Quiet Corner Contra Dance, 8-11 PM, Patriots Park Lodge, 172 Lake Street. Intro session at 7:45 PM. Live music by Fifers Delight, dances called by Paul Wilde. Mobile Foodshare, 10-10:30 AM, First Congregational Church @ St. Mary's, 1600 Main Street. An outdoor food distribution service for persons of low income. Text FOODSHARE to 85511 to receive the mobile schedule and cancellations directly on your phone. More info.

Sat 4/23: Drive Thru/Take Out Dinner, Second Congregational Church, 1746 Boston Turnpike. Menu: pot roast, mashed potatoes. gravy, carrots and dessert. $15 adults, $7 children. Place orders by calling 860-742-1616 or email secondchurch@sbcglobal.net and indicate pick-up time of 5 PM, 5:30 PM, or 6:00 PM. Correct amount of cash or check required, Drive down from church parking lot to the Community House, located across from Highland Park.

Spring Programs

COVENTRY PARKS & RECREATION:

Summer Camp Registration is OPEN! Camp Wangumbaug is for children entering grades K – 8 in Fall 2022. Camp is held at Patriots Park and campers participate in arts & crafts, swimming, group games, and more! Back for Summer 2022, field trips!
 
Parks and Rec NOW offers April Vacation Camp; Tuesday – Thursday 9am – 4pm, extended hours 7:30 – 5:30 available. Register by day or for all three days! 
 
Adult Paint Night – April 22nd - Join us for a spring-themed 18+ Paint Night inspired by Van Gogh! Each participant will create and take home a painting on a 16”x20” canvas. We will use acrylic paint, so prepare to get a bit messy! Parks & Recreation will provide the supplies, and our instructor will provide step-by-step instruction. Materials included in fee. Registration.
 
Town Wide Tag Sale – May 7th - Do you have an excess of clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, furniture, and/or toys not being used and taking up valuable space in your basement or garage? Register to be a part of the Town Wide Tag Sale for $25 and get your sale on the map!  
Military Pack and Post

MILITARY PACK AND POST PROGRAM:

If you are a resident of Coventry or Mansfield and have a Coventry/Mansfield family member currently serving overseas, please contact the Pack and Post Coordinator, Judy Ringuette, at 860-742-8412, or Roberta Macaro at 860-742-9543. Judy, with help from American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52, and American Legion Post 52, sends monthly packages to our overseas military members - filled with personal hygiene products, snacks and treats, and recreational items. Standard packages may be customized whenever they know the individual service member's wants or needs. In addition, a welcome-home celebration can be arranged upon the service member's return. Donations or checks to support this program may be made to the American Legion Post 52, and mailed to American Legion Post 52, PO Box 51, Coventry, CT  06238-0051. Thank you for supporting our troops!

DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS:

Coventry Scholarship Foundation. a Dollars for Scholars affiliate, announces two new awards for Coventry students graduating in 2022. The William Hoffman Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate entering the fields of science or education. The North Coventry Fire Department Scholarship will be awarded to a Coventry graduate pursuing their education in fire service or a medical field. Information regarding these scholarships and others can be found on the CSF website. 



CoventryFest

COVENTRYFEST 2022:

After a two-year hiatus, this popular event returns to Patriots Park on Saturday, June 25 (rain date June 26). The CoventryFest Committee is seeking sponsors, donations, and craft or business vendors to make this year's event a success.
