Coventry Community Update
Folly Lane Bridge
A large-scale hazardous
tree removal project was completed on Snake Hill Road, with over 30 trees removed.

Manager's Message:

Summer has flown by, and September is upon us. While things are a bit more "normal," we still need to be vigilant against COVID-19. The Town Hall and several businesses are accepting the Center for Disease Control's guidelines to require face masks indoors. Please respect these decisions. We have also worked to host additional vaccination clinics for those now eligible or for those who were waiting for full FDA approval. Working together we can keep our caseload low and avoid more stringent actions. Please help our community stay safe.

A Special Town Meeting has been scheduled for Monday, August 30 at 7 PM in the High School Lecture Hall (front left door entrance). Two presentations will be made on projects which will be forwarded for a vote on Tuesday, November 2 with the election, to authorize borrowing. Question 1 seeks $325,000 for the planning, design and construction of a new softball field and related improvements along Plains Road (Miller Richardson area). Question 2 seeks additional funds ($2,780,000) for roof and fire alarm system replacements at Coventry High School, and the newer section of GH Robertson School due to the architect's revised cost estimates.

Please enjoy the opportunities offered to you this month, from the Farmers' Market (Energy Fair this weekend on Aug. 29), to a guided walk of the Hayes Sculpture Field on September 25.

Weather has delayed our chip seal and road reclamation projects, but they have been rescheduled and are expected soon. Sign up for Coventry road closure alerts, as well as weather-related and emergency notifications on our new notification platform, CivicReady, at this link.
